About Pixtrim

Most of Pixtrim runs inside your browser. Crop, resize, compress and convert decode, transform and re-encode the file on your own device using a Web Worker. Nothing is transmitted, which is why those tools are fast on large images, work offline once the page has loaded, and have no quota at all.

Background removal is the exception. The model that does it well is too large to run in a browser, so automatic cutouts are computed on our GPU server. Your browser sends a copy resized to 1024 pixels — never your original — and gets back only a mask, which it applies to the full-resolution image locally. Because that server costs money to run, automatic cutouts have a daily free limit. Click-select cutouts run in your browser and do not.

How the site is funded

Pixtrim shows advertising on the result step of each tool. Ads never load before your image is processed, and the space they occupy is reserved in advance so the page does not jump around. If you would rather not see them, the Premium plan below removes ads entirely.
